ADRIFT

I've been away for a while, consumed with the efforts of day to day survival, emotionally drained, financially destitute, and wondering just what the hell is going on. I decided to reintroduce myself through a poem from my manuscript "From Darkness to Light" which reflects my present state of mine and perhaps my mirror your own; though I would hope not. The title of this poem is Adrift. Hope you enjoy it. ADRIFT I, alone with me, My soul adrift in a stormy sea. There is no lifeline-- Where is the harbor? Is there no place to moor? A kaleidoscope of emotions flood my senses, Flowing like Niagara toward a great abyss Devoid of any shape or form. The gaping jaws of eternity Come to swallow me whole. Chaos and confusion surround me: Buried in an avalanche of despair, Embraced by the arms of desperation; Come to me sweet oblivion-- Gently rock me in your cradle. Adrift.

REQUIEM FOR LOVE

Today is an unusual. For just a few moments I escape the insanity that surrounds me. I abandon the cloak of despair that surrounds me like a shroud. The darkness recedes and sunshine fills my soul. The cause, thoughts of my beloved. Ah! She is a sight to behold and I reach for her even though she is far away. Yet the light of her smile, her gentle voice and tender touch are indelibly imprinted on my mind and causes me delight beyond measure. It is she who has driven away my despair, my hopelessness and my fear. No greater love there ever was and I revel in these thoughts. But alas I must return to reality. I must begin to deal with the pain that I have caused her. A pain so deep that it has lacerated her very soul. She is a wounded bird left in a void of uncertainty. Her pain is mine yet with an intensity that she will never know; she suspects, such is her understanding of me. Her anger lays bare my soul while her pain brings me to tears. I cry for her and for all of the things that I have destroyed! I fear that I shall never see the sunshine of her smile or witness the beauty of her eyes as they twinkle with joy. Nor feel the warmth of her embrace that sets my soul aflame and ignites all of my senses. I am obsessed with her. How do I give her up as surely I must? I must amputate my emotions and cauterize the wounds. I must narcotize myself against the resulting pain, pain that is sure to last throughout eternity. Now is the time that I must turn her away while yet her wounds are raw and pray that her healing be swift. This is my love and I cannot and will not allow her to follow me into a world of insanity, of uncertainty; into a world of darkness. And when the pain is yet bearable she will understand that my love trandscends all acts of selfishness and has not taken its final breath. In the years to come she will learn to forgive me for such is the intensity of her love for me. And I will always hold her close, taste the sweetness of he lips and feel the warmth of her nearness. And in my mind she will be the sun that greets me each day and the stars that bid me goodnight. She will remain in my heart forever! All Things Considered. Madu

IMPORTANT INFO. FOR ATM USERS

I'm sure you're aware that ATM theft is on the rise and various tricks are being employed. Here is one to be aware of because it is so innocuous. The rouse goes something like this: The thief places a thin film inside the slits of the slotwhere the atm card is inserted. However the film has slots cut into it that trap the card when it's being returned. This prevents the card from coming out of the slot. And along comes the good samaritan who attempts to help you retrieve your card. This allows him or her to suggest you enter your pin number to attempt to retrieve it and because it does not work the unsuspecting customer leaves in frustration. At that point the good samaritain detaches the film and then uses the customer's pin to extract funds. Here'another of more forceful meansand if force is used do not argue or resist because you don't know what mght hapen. In this type of circumstanceall you need to do is punch your pin in the reverse. Example: If your pin is 5421, you should punch in 1245. The moment you punch in the reverse, the money will come out but will be stuck in the machine half way out and it will alert the police without the thief ever knowing it. Every ATM this feature. SHORTAGE OF SWINE FLU VACCINE

Here we are once again approaching the flu season and once again we here that there is a shortage of flu vaccine. Now how is that possible? I mean this is America, the most bountiful and productive Country in the world. Of late we have witnessed people standing in long lines to be inoculated against this culprit, but who determines the recipients of this much needed medication. Who determines what neighborhoods are to be affected and how much of this vaccine is to be distributed where? Surely people of lesser means will be vastly affected by these decisions; and most probably in a negative way while those of considerable means have nothing to fear. The foregoing is central to the issue of HEALTH CARE REFORM. But in this medium we see clearly the issue of Life, Death and Money. It is also clear that MONEY is the overriding factor as to who lives and who dies. How long can we, as a Nation of alleged Moral Certitude propagate the laws of supply and demand to the determination of human life. How long can we, as a self-proclaimed Christian Nation; hold sway and remain mute as those of lesser means are left to fend for themselves in indefensible situations? Situations that could inevitably lead to DEATH through no fault of there own save lack of MONEY. All Things Considered. Madu

RACISM-ALIVE AND WELL IN LOUISIANA

Just when the Citizenry thought America had turned the corner on blatant Racism, along comes the most profound reminder of it'[s ugly permanency. Today we find a Civil Servant, a Judge no less; in a Court of Law in Louisiana who refused to marry an inter-racial couple. Now as a student of the Law this Judge, and it would be presumed that he is acquainted with the rulings of the U.S. Supreme Court governing this type of situation; would know that such denial to perform the ceremony based upon his personal predilections, is an egregious disregard for the Law. Though this posture is nothing new to the minority community, it is even more disturbing considering the position he holds within our Greater Society-the charge of upholding the Law. I think such posture calls into question his interpretations of the law as regards its application to people of color or rather people unlike himself. It certainly gives pause as to the administration of Justice with the Judicial System of the State of Louisiana. Progress!! Progress!! It seems such a hypercritical notion when the Past seems to rear its evil head each time it seems the inevitable evolution of Society is nearing the horizon. Hopefully, we as a People, can remain optimistic and continue to strive for that most precious common thread of Humanity with which we all hold dear (Love). All Things Considered. Madu
